Bank of Industry CEO, Ms Evelyn Oputu joins Nigerian Embassy in Vienna for Movie Premiere of Obi Emelonyes Last Flight to Abuja

Joining Nigerians in Austria to kick of the Nigerian Cultural Week in Austria, Ambassador Maria Oyeyinka Laose was host at the premiering of Obi Emelonyes movie Last Flight to Abuja in Vienna on June 24, 2013 at the OFID ROTUNDA, Parkring 8, A-1010 Vienna. On the front seat with the Ambassador was the Bank of Industry CEO Ms. Evelyn Oputu, who came to declare Government recognition and support for Nollywood, then UNIDO DG and now UNSGs Rep for SE4ALL, Dr. Kandeh Yumkella, the DG for Cultural Policy at the Austrian Foreign Ministry, Ambassador (Dr) Martin Eichtinger and former Austrian Ambassador to Nigeria and to ECOWAS, Dr. Stefan Scholz.


Over 200 guests were treated to a lively evening for at the premiere of the film which is about a near fatal plane crash in Nigeria.


In his heartfelt remarks, Dr. Kandeh Yumkella spoke on the odds that Nollywood has had to surmount to get to its powerful status as an African film industry. Ms Evelyn Oputu provided an in-sight on Government Support for the Entertainment Industry and Youth Empowerment, and Amb. Martin Eichtinger commented on the relevance of the Nigerian film industry in Austria. Amb. Laose noted that Nollywood was second only to Bollywood in film production and that it employed more youths than the oil industry in Nigeria. The celebrated producer/director of Last Flight to Abuja, Obi Emelonye, also gave an hindsight on the movie.
