In recognition of the Nigeria’s enormous potentials, the President of the Republic of Austria Dr. Heinz Fischer has called for closer ties between the two countries in the areas of political and economic investment. Dr. Fisher made this remark while receiving Ambassador Jerry Sonny Ugokwe, who presented his Letters of Credence to the Austrian President on May 5, 2008.

The Nigerian ambassador in Austria, Dr. Jerry Sonny Ugokwe has called on Austrian companies to play more active role in Nigerian economy by taking part in the production sector.

Nigerians in Austria have been assured of Federal Government's support to overcome obstacles in the pursuit of their legitimate means of livelihood while in that country

As part of it activities to boost the image of Nigeria in Austria, the Nigerian Embassy in Vienna is planning to organise a Nigerian Week in Vienna come 2009.
